The thatched Bernard Cottage is secluded from the Friary by a beech hedge and commands a wonderful position overlooking meadow and recently replanted with native species of trees.  It is built in the vernacular style using flint and greenstone with brick quoins.

The thatched Bernard Cottage is built in the vernacular style using flint and greenstone with brick quoins.
Through the brick arched porch is a little hall way with boot rack, sticks and coat hooks.

Turning left is the sitting room which faces south west and gets the afternoon sun.  Two settees and armchairs, pictures and books make this a warm and inviting room.
The sitting room leads to the large and beautifully fitted kitchen which is well stocked with equipment; as well as a fridge freezer, microwave oven and an electric cooker.  The kitchen table can happily accommodate 8 people, beyond is a lobby with sink, washing matching and tumble dryer a toilet and the back door.
Returning to the front hall on the other side of the cottage is Lime View a single bedroom with en suite toilet and walk in shower.
Going upstairs passed pictures depicting the Canticle of the Sun we reach Clare View, a single room under the eves of the thatch, it has a hand basin and interesting old chest of draws.  There are a further two single bedrooms Leo View and Avenue View.
There is a shared shower room/wc on this floor and a further wc and basin.
At the end of the landing Flowers’ Moor View is a beautifully light room in the early evening it has two single beds.
This room offers a commanding view over the recently replanted wood of Flowers’ Moor
All bedrooms have a desk and individual basins.
The double bedroom overlooks the lakes.
Back at the kitchen sink, dominated by the view of the valley and fishing lakes belonging to the neighbouring farm, even the washing up would be a pleasurable experience here.
Bernard House is secluded form the Friary by a beech hedge and would provide a lovely base for a holiday or retreat house for a group.
